Zakros gorge (Valley of the Dead)

A short, about 8 km long gorge, which starts in the village of Ano Zakros and ends in Kato Zakros, near the ancient Minoan Palace. There are many caves in the gorge walls, where tombs from the Minoan period were discovered, hence the name "The valley of the Dead".
